Original Thought Bubble Popped Again

After singing snippets of remembered song lyrics on the drive home (brilliantly I might add, in that way one can only do while alone in a car), I started thinking about all the references to “4 o’clock in the morning” in so many of the songs I like.

This lead me to the idea of collating a list of songs that refer to this strangely appealing hour, then blogging about it under the hilariously ironic title of “Things I Worry About at 4am” or something equally amusing. Oh, what might have been.

Like many ideas I think of though, it was sadly unoriginal; so much so that early into my research I stumbled across someone who’d already put a significant amount of time and research into this very topic. He went further though, expanding the idea beyond simply song lyrics and out into popular culture at large.

We are by nature an inherently lazy species, so here’s his video on the topic. Just remember though, he might have thought of it first, done all the research, found an audience to listen, and create an interesting, humorous presentation about it, but it’s still my idea!

On the bright side though, Rives is something of a poet himself, which makes this seem slightly less of an abstract, left field post. Given that, I’ll let him have it!

...and finally, if you get nothing else from this, what a fantastic idea for a mixtape. Do this for someone please; I intend to.
